HAUTE HIGHLIGHTS
Fool’s Gold Day Off L.A.
Nov. 10, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Shrine Auditorium
700 W. 32nd St.
Los Angeles, CA
If you’re coming back early from The Weekender (or if you’re just not going), Fool’s Gold is hosting “Day Off,” an annual party right next to campus in the Shrine Auditorium. Free RSVP admissions are closed, but $55 VIP tickets are still on sale. VIP ticketholders get line-free admission and a special viewing area where they’ll be able to take in Fool’s Gold headliners A-Trak and Danny Brown. Anyone who was at Springfest last semester can tell you that A-Trak can put together a killer set, and up-and-coming Detroit rapper Danny Brown will spit some hilariously unprintable lyrics in what promises to be one of the true highlights of the fall semester.
Japanese Food Festival
Nov. 10, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Hilton Los Angeles
Universal Hollywood Drive
Universal City, CA
If Fool’s Gold isn’t your thing, check out the 14th Annual Japanese Food Festival. Tickets are a little steep at $60 each but admission includes all-you-can-eat sushi, ramen, soba noodles and beef bowls. In what could be a potential recipe for disaster, all-you-can-drink Japanese beer and sake are also included in the price of admission. If all-you-can-eat sushi from Sushi Gen doesn’t get you excited enough, there will be musical performances including taiko drum demonstrations and live jazz music. If you’re still not convinced, just take comfort in the fact that you’ll be partaking in one of the most generically named festivals in Los Angeles this weekend.

TCL Chinese Theatre
6925 Hollywood Blvd.

Blizzcon 2013
Nov. 8 and 9, 9:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Anaheim Convention Center
800 W. Katella Ave.
Anaheim, CA
It has returned! After taking a brief one-year hiatus for 2012, Blizzcon is back. The company behind franchises such as Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft will hold a two-day convention with developer panels, exclusive interviews and a costume contest hosted by comedian Jay Mohr. Attendees will receive exclusive in-game memorabilia for some of Blizzard’s online games. Blizzcon will also host this year’s Starcraft II World Championship Series, so don your best Jim Raynor or Terran Marine costume and hop in your Vulture to the Anaheim Convention Center. Tickets are $175 for both days, so you might require additional minerals to attend, but it’s all in the interest of a Terran victory.
