This Week in Film

CAKE

Jennifer Aniston tried very hard, but ultimately failed, to earn a oscar nomination by firing her makeup artist in preparation for her role as a haunted woman in Cake. The delightful Anna Kendrick stars as the ghost who follows her.

MORTDECAI

In his latest quirky performance, Johnny Depp will actually reduce his usually over-the-top levels of makeup to only a glamorous curlicue mustache to play Charlie Mortdecai, a comically inept scoundrel, in the new comedy also starring Ewan McGregor and Jeff Goldblum.

STRANGE MAGIC

George Lucas goes full CGI like he wanted to all along while making the Star Wars prequels in his new fairy tale film about elves and goblins. The fun cast includes Alan Cumming and Evan Rachel Wood.

THE BOY NEXT DOOR

Jennifer Lopez stars in what amounts to a Lifetime movie all grown up as she has a brief affair with her young neighbor, which devolves into her being harassed by the unwanted advances by what looks to be a murderous Abercrombie model.
