Six things to buy on your next Trader Joe’s run

Though, unfortunately, there isn’t a Trader Joe’s within walking distance from campus (2017, come sooner please), sometimes it’s nice to grab an Uber or your friend’s car to make a trip to a grocery store other than Fresh & Easy and Ralph’s. I personally only shop at Trader Joe’s and am consistently satisfied with ever purchase I make there. Here are some of my favorite items, which I highly recommend you try out on your next Trader Joe’s run.

1. Cookie Butter/Cookie Butter Ice Cream/Cookie Butter Cookies

There’s a reason why Yogurtland has a cookie butter flavor: it’s heaven in your mouth. Cookie butter is the only way I can enjoy eating apples and bread, and the tub of ice cream satisfies all sorts of late night cravings. I have yet to try the cookies but based on the popularity of the other cookie butter items, I expect only greatness. I bow down to you, Speculoos.

2. Chicken/Pork Gyoza

These potstickers make for an easy and quick lunch when you’re in a rush. You just stick them in the microwave for two minutes, and voila you have your lunch! The potstickers go nicely with Trader Joe’s Gyoza Dipping Sauce.

3. Crispy Crunch Chocolate Chip Cookies

Not going to lie, these are dangerous to have. But they’re so good . They’re bite-sized and at about 150 calories per every 12 cookies, they make a satisfying treat.

4. Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips

These corn and sweet potato chips are a great snack with a side of guacamole. They’re a perfect blend of sweet and salty and knock regular tortilla chips out of the park.

5. Chicken Tikka Masala

I don’t think it’s possible to ever go wrong in the frozen section of Trader Joe’s. My personal favorite is the tikka masala. It seems small, but it keeps you full all night and definitely rivals Manas.

6. Cauliflower Romanesco Basilic

I did not like cauliflower (or vegetables in general) until I tried these. Easy to make and a perfect complement to protein like chicken or fish, this makes a great addition to dinner. I seriously think the garlic butter makes all the difference.
