Women’s golf finishes in second place

After three days of play at the Stanford Intercollegiate, the women’s golf team finished the tournament in second place on Tuesday. Senior Kyung Kim finished with 3-under 68 and tied a school record for most rounds played in the 60s.

The No. 1 Women of Troy shot a tournament low final round to finish in second place. The team combined to finish 2-over 854 while Stanford won with a 5-under 847. This is their second top 2 finish in three events.

Freshman Robynn Ree led the Women of Troy, finishing in a tie for eighth place at 1-over 214. She had two birdies and three bogies on the day to help her to her second top 10 finish in three starts this year.

Kim and junior Tiffany Chan tied for 11th place at 2-over 215. Kim’s final round saw her shoot five birdies to two bogies. Chan finished in the top 14 for the third time in three appearances.

The team rallied from a third place finish after the second round, where they trailed Stanford and second place UCLA. Ree maintained her second round eighth place finish to end the event.

The Women of Troy will head to Atlanta, Georgia, on Nov. 2 for the East Lake Cup.
