Spring selections to chill out to between midterms

If you couldn’t tell by the SoCal weather refusing to make up its mind about being hot or cold, rainy or sunny, rest assured, spring is right around the corner.

Though spring is just a few weeks away, midterm season chooses to rear its ugly head to stay as an unwelcomed guest. This is winter’s last flip of the bird before it goes away, adding to its list of things that make it the worst season out of the year. The last few days of winter aren’t something to look forward to, especially with all of the studying, cramming and panicking, but music usually helps alleviate some of the stress. These songs will hopefully get you thinking about spring while you’re studying and remind you to stop and smell the soon-to-be roses in a few weeks.

After all, spring is tied for my favorite season out of the year for a lot of reasons. Just to name a few:

1. It definitely makes a strong case for being the best-looking season out of all of them. All of the flowers blooming makes it impossible not to brighten up during the day.
2. The weather is just right — not too warm, not too cold. There’s also a good mix of rainy and sunny days, so each day has an element of surprise to it. It could be sunny when you’re walking to class and then suddenly be in the middle of a downpour when you’re leaving.
3. It’s the most uplifting of all the seasons. The cold and dark winter is seeing it’s last days, and daylight savings is a godsend that everyone can appreciate. Back in my hometown, spring is a crowd-favorite, since it meant that the temperature would at least be above zero degrees, and the sun would stay up past three p.m.

No matter where you’re from, spring never fails to lift a weight off of your shoulders and brighten everyone’s mood. It’s also the time for new beginnings, which is applicable to just about anything and everything. My only complaint with this magical season is that it’s too short, and just as soon as it comes, it leaves.

With winter out of the way, spring means that everyone’s in the homestretch for the school year, because everything after spring break always flies by, but we’re not out of the woods yet.
