Three Trojans earn spots on conference honors lists

The men’s basketball team landed several players on the Pac-12 honors lists for the 2015-2016 season.

Junior guard Julian Jacobs was named to Pac-12 All-Conference First Team, while sophomore guard Jordan McLaughlin earned a spot on the honorable mention All-Conference list, and freshman forward Bennie Boatwright also received an All-Freshman honorable mention.

The versatile Jacobs is the first Trojan to be selected for the All-Conference First Team since Nikola Vucevic in 2011. Averaging 11.6 points, 5.4 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game, Jacobs has posted three double-doubles, is first in the conference in assists per game and ranks 10th in steals.

McLaughlin leads the team in scoring, averaging nearly 13 points a game and shooting more than 42 percent from 3-point range. He made the All-Freshman team last season and has bounced back from offseason shoulder surgery for a successful sophomore campaign.

Boatwright has shown promise as one of two high-profile freshman on the team this season. He averaged double-digits at 11.4 points and his outside shooting is valuable as 6-foot-10, 220-pound big man. Boatwright made 52 3-pointers during the regular season, placing him in the top-five all-time for USC freshmen.

All three players will play a key role if the Trojans are to make a deep run in the Pac-12 tournament, which begins Wednesday night against UCLA.
