Acceptance rate expected to drop to 9.2%

The University accepted 7% of early action applicants for the Class of 2028.

USC’s acceptance rate for the Class of 2028 is expected to be 9.2%, according to an email from Director of Undergraduate Admission Kirk Brennan obtained by the Daily Trojan. This would mark a new record low after last year’s admissions cycle saw the first sub-10% acceptance rate of 9.9%.

USC admitted approximately 7.2% of early action applicants in the Class of 2028: About 41,000 students applied under the early action deadline and roughly 40,800 students applied under the regular decision deadline, according to the email. The total number of applicants bumped up by about 1.3% from last year. The combined early action and merit scholarship acceptance rate also increased by 1 percentage point from last year.

Last year was the inaugural year for the University’s early action program and the University admitted 8,032 first-year applicants for the Class of 2027.

The University will release regular admissions decisions by April 1.
