The Downey Way Entrance will close from 1 p.m. Thursday through 4 p.m. Saturday to accommodate the dismantling of a crane, according to a communitywide email Wednesday morning.

The parking garage itself will remain accessible, but only through the McClintock Avenue entrance, which will remain open as scheduled. The Downey Way Entrance into the University and the garage’s north entrance off of Downey Way will be completely inaccessible.

The closure comes amid construction surrounding the new Ginsburg Human-Centered Computation Hall. The seven-story structure is supposed to open this spring and will serve as the new hub for computer science at USC. It will house modern computational laboratories, dedicated space for student organizations and the new School of Advanced Computing, which inaugurated its first director in a private ceremony Feb. 1.

USC Transportation advised students who rely on the Downey Way Entrance to use the McClintock Avenue and Watt Way entrances, and anticipates increased traffic at the entrances. Watt Way Entrance is always accessible, even if the gate appears closed.
