Coen, Black and ElFarra most recently served in Student Assembly for Gender Empowerment, Academic Culture Assembly and Middle Eastern North African Student Assembly, respectively. Meanwhile, Obioha served as the funding director of the Professional/Academic Research Fund, and Ahmed served as an associate director of Creative Services.

In addition to evaluating candidates’ priorities related to their “Community, Accessibility, Representation, Equity” platform, Fernandez and Sanchez focused on the relationships between their hires and experience the candidates had to offer.

The pair extended the deadline for cabinet applications an extra day. Fernandez said technical issues had prevented several applicants from submitting the form and was behind the extension, though only four applications had come after the extension. Chief of staff David Martinez also said the overall number of applications was similar to previous years.

The senate heard from Sara Stienecker, chair of the Committee on Sustainability and Campus Infrastructure, about shuttles USG ran from Los Angeles International Airport to University Park Campus during the Thanksgiving holiday, winter recess and spring recess.

Stienecker said that for the most recent shuttle run — despite almost hour-long delays on the second day due to construction at LAX — served 931 students. Steinecker said she will be communicating with USC Transportation about running the program next year.

The senate heard a total of eight presentations, including reports from speaker of the senate Rudra Saigal, Martinez and chief communications officer Mustafa Ali Khan. Saigal said USG funding allocated for free sexually transmitted infection testing has been fully depleted and 802 students were tested.

Most officials shared that over the coming weeks, they will help their successors to transition into the roles.
