A multimedia production studio is being added to the Capital Campus in Washington, D.C., according to a Monday press release from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. A $5 million grant from USC Life Trustee Wallis Annenberg and the Annenberg Foundation funded the project, the press release read.

The studio, named the Annenberg Studio, will be built in the Capital Campus’ existing building in Dupont Circle and designed for “flexibility with optimization” for video and audio streaming on social media platforms. President Carol Folt wrote in the press release that the studio’s location will help connect students to policymakers in the capital.

“There is no better time — or place — for our students to engage with the policies and people shaping our world,” wrote Annenberg Dean Willow Bay in the press release. “The Annenberg Foundation’s bold investment will empower students to develop their skills as intellectually rigorous, ethically grounded storytellers who produce content that informs, inspires and drives critical conversations.”

The studio is planned to operate similarly to USC Annenberg’s Media Center at the University Park Campus, with students producing content under the mentorship of faculty.
