Roughly 50 protesters at the “Gaza Unbreakable Week of Rage” marched near campus late Thursday afternoon. At around 4 p.m., they briefly set up a small encampment in front of Rock & Reilly’s.

The rally was led by USC Students for Justice in Palestine, USC Faculty for Justice in Palestine and USC Student Coalition Against Labor Exploitation — all advocacy groups not affiliated with the University.

The protest closed the Watt Way and North Trousdale entrances. More than a dozen Department of Public Safety officers were standing near the North Trousdale Entrance with helmets, batons and flex cuffs as protesters marched at North Trousdale entrance and around the perimeter of USC Village.

At 5:37 p.m., the protesters announced the end of the protest at the USC Community House.

“We’re not just going to be fighting on campus, we’re going to be fighting off campus,” a protest leader told the crowd. “We’re starting to mobilize, to do our own patrols, to watch [USC] when they try to watch us. Every piece of property that USC owns in this community is open territory for the struggle.”

This three-hour protest was part of the “Gaza Unbreakable Week of Rage,” meant to represent how “Gaza is unbreakable” and how “the international student movement is unbreakable,” according to a post on the organizers’ Instagram. They are calling for disclosure and divestment and a University that serves the USC community and the South Central community.

Editor’s note: This article was updated April 3 at 6:54 p.m. to reflect that the protest has concluded.
