Former White House economic adviser named Price commencement speaker

Cecilia Rouse was the first Black Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.

Former White House economic adviser Cecilia Elena Rouse will serve as the keynote speaker at the Price School of Public Policy’s commencement ceremony, the school announced in a press release Thursday morning.

Rouse was the first Black person to serve as the Chair of the United States’ Council of Economic Advisers from 2021 to 2023. She is currently the president of Brookings, a nonprofit organization that conducts nonpartisan research on economics and public policy.

“[Rouse] embodies our core values — especially the importance of using thoughtful, evidence-based research to shape public policy — and we are very excited to have her as our commencement speaker,” Price Dean Christopher Boone wrote in the press release.

The Price commencement ceremony will take place May 16 at 4:30 p.m. at Shrine Auditorium.
