Miky Lee named SCA commencement speaker

The award-winning executive was set to speak last year but was unable to due to scheduling conflicts.

Award-winning TV and film executive Miky Lee will speak at the School of Cinematic Arts commencement, the school announced in a press release Tuesday. Lee, who also serves as vice chair of the CJ Group, was initially slated to speak at SCA’s commencement last year but was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts, an SCA spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Trojan.

Lee served as the executive producer for “Parasite” (2019), — which became the first non-English language film to win the Best Picture Oscar in 2020 — “Decision to Leave” (2022) and “The Handmaiden” (2016), among other projects. She also created KCON, an annual music festival celebrating K-pop around the world.

“Miky Lee is a champion of artists and storytellers,” wrote SCA Dean Elizabeth Daley in the press release. “Her career stands as a global model of success in the creative industries, and her dedication to creating cultural connection is an inspiration for us all.”

SCA’s commencement ceremony will take place May 16 at 1 p.m. at Shrine Auditorium.
