USC’s union of postdoctoral scholars voted 96% to reject USC’s “last, best, and final” offer, an Instagram post announcing the voting results read. The vote saw 64% turnout.

USC released its “final” offer on Sept. 10. In an Instagram post on Sept. 12, the postdoctoral union criticized the offer for not addressing several of the union’s demands, including salary increases, financial support for international postdocs and improved healthcare and childcare benefits.

In a statement to the Daily Trojan on Sept. 15, the University wrote that it has been engaged in “good faith” negotiations for over a year and had reached many agreements with the postdoctoral union over the course of 21 meetings. The University wrote that it hoped to finalize a contract “soon.”

The union’s Instagram post requested that USC return to the bargaining table and select a third-party mediator to aid in futher negotiations.
