The Undergraduate Student Government senate heard presentations Tuesday night on expanding accessibility services and creating a student DJ database.

In senator Justin Shih’s presentation, he said that he has been working with president Mikaela Bautista and vice president Emma Fallon on their artificial intelligence initiative.

Shih also said he wants to introduce a club-matching tool to help guide students find clubs that fit their interests on EngageSC, the University’s online event and organization platform. His presentation also discussed his projects with the USG accessibility committee, which included having the Office of Student Accessibility Services expand text-to-speech services and speeding up the process for granting diagnoses and testing accommodations.

Senator Kevin Hoang presented an update on making a database in which student DJs, bands and performers can submit information about themselves that will be shared across Recognized Student Organizations. He also said that he plans on partnering with the Concerts Committee to promote it across campus.

“Concerts are an incredible foundation of our campus,” Hoang said. “This is such an integral part of our college experience and we’re going to continue that by adding more of a repertoire for pursuing musicians.”

The senate unanimously passed senate bill 145-09 which would suspend USG operations for the week of Thanksgiving break.
