Senior guard Amarion Dickerson, men’s basketball’s definitive sixth-man and defensive specialist, will be out for three or four months with a right hip injury, Head Coach Eric Musselman announced in a news release Saturday. He is likely to miss all or most of the season, given the estimated timeline.

Dickerson sustained the injury early in USC’s win over Oregon on Tuesday and left the game after just four minutes on the court. Before his injury, Dickerson appeared in the Trojans’ first eight contests, often as a spark plug off the bench, averaging 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in nearly 22 minutes per game, including one start.

“Amarion has been a huge part of our team so far this season,” Musselman said in the news release. “We will miss his versatility, toughness, and athleticism. Amarion is undoubtedly disappointed, but he looks forward to attacking his rehab, and we cannot wait to see him come back even stronger.”

Before coming to USC this season, Dickerson won the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year award and earned second-team all-league honors while playing for Robert Morris University.
