Threat directed toward Bovard employee was not credible, law enforcement says

The threat, which prompted increased security measures on campus, included “racially charged language.”

UPDATE (5:30 p.m.): Law enforcement determined that a threat directed toward a USC employee with an office in the Bovard Administrative Building was not credible, according to a 4:46 p.m. TrojansAlert message.

According to the TrojansAlert, the threat included “racially charged language” and came from outside the United States. The FBI told Annenberg Media that it was aware of hoax threats being made to other schools in the Los Angeles area Thursday.

A threat was directed toward a USC employee with an office in the Bovard Administration Building on Thursday, causing increased security presence at University Park Campus, according to a 2:07 p.m. TrojansAlert message.

The Department of Public Safety notified the Los Angeles Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation about the incident, according to TrojansAlert.

The LAPD’s Southwest Division came to UPC at roughly 12:45 p.m. and met with DPS, an LAPD spokesperson said. The spokesperson had no further comment on the incident.
