The Undergraduate Student Government judicial council announced Wednesday that it found Syrabi Nur Rahman and Diane Kim, sophomores running for president and vice president of USG, guilty of three election code violations.

Jeremiah Boisrond and Benjamin Huang, candidates on separate tickets in the 2026 USG Presidential and Vice Presidential Election, brought forward the charges. They filed an official election complaint document containing seven alleged election code violations, four of which the judicial council heard in the Sunday trial.

Rahman and Kim were found guilty of three of the charges: having USG officers campaign on behalf of their ticket, improperly using a USG position to enhance a campaign and using a non-USC individual to create and distribute campaign content.

The judicial council found Rahman and Kim guilty of permitting current USG officers, who were not formally members of the campaign team, to assist them in placing campaign signs.

The judicial council noted that a member of the judicial council told Rahman and Kim the election code permitted having USG officers place campaign signs. The jury council wrote the prior, inaccurate communication “cannot exempt a guilty verdict on this charge.”

The judicial council additionally found Rahman and Kim guilty of improperly using the @usc.wellness Instagram account, an official USG platform, to like campaign posts posted by the @syrabi.diane Instagram account. Kim currently serves as the chair of the Wellness Affairs Committee.

Rahman and Kim were also found guilty of using a non-USC photographer to produce campaign materials. Candice Li, currently enrolled at the University of California, Irvine, assisted Rahman and Kim’s campaign by providing material utilized in the campaign’s Instagram posts and yard signs, according to the decision.

The judicial council ordered Rahman and Kim to remove all yard signs on Trousdale Parkway which contain material produced by non-USC undergraduate students. They also ordered the pair to remove all posts, stories and profile pictures on their campaign’s Instagram account that contain material produced by Li. The judicial council also ordered Rahman and Kim to suspend all campaign activities for the entirety of Thursday.

Rahman and Kim were not able to respond to requests for a comment due to the sanctions.
