Typically, USC women’s basketball wears team-coordinated outfits while leaving for an away trip. However, the team had on shirts featuring one player in particular on the front before heading off to their most recent road trip.

In a video posted to USC women’s basketball’s Instagram on Feb. 20, Head Coach Lindsay Gottlieb announced that the team would be showing their support for freshman guard Jazzy Davidson’s SLAMU cover shoot by donning shirts featuring the shoot’s photo on their trip to face Ohio State.

“One thing that’s been really unique and really positive about our team is the way you show up for one another,” Gottlieb said in the video posted to Instagram. “We have our latest SLAM cover athlete. … We all know we have our rookie of the year here. We know everything she brings to our program, and I just think it’s a fun opportunity.”

SLAM University is a section of SLAM Magazine that focuses primarily on college basketball. Since its inception in 1994, the magazine has shifted to become one of the prominent publications centered around the culture of basketball. It initially looked to connect with younger NBA viewership through its photography and storytelling styles, according to The Athletic — now, the publication has sold over 300 million copies.

Davidson headlined the latest digital cover on Feb.18, announced on SLAMU and USC women’s basketball’s Instagram pages on the same day. Her cover story highlights her journey upon committing to USC, reflecting on her high school career and discussing her career expectations as a Trojan.

“There’s been a lot of legendary players that have come through here,” Davidson said in a video, discussing the legacy of the program. “Being able to be here and make my own mark on that tradition, it’s really cool.”

Davidson’s rookie season has been one for the record books: seven Big Ten Freshman of the Week Awards, including four in a row, named to four United States Basketball Writers Association National Freshman of the Week awards and selected for the 2026 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Late-Season Team. Now, she has a SLAMU cover shoot to add to her resume, a prestigious honor among college basketball players.

Davidson has quickly established herself as a powerhouse at USC, averaging 18.1 points per game, 6.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists over the course of the season. On top of well-rounded offensive prowess, she has shined particularly on defense with a team-high 60 blocks.

Her appearance on the cover follows junior guard JuJu Watkins’s appearance in 2024 and incoming recruit Saniyah Hall’s cover photo in SLAM HS, the magazine’s high school section, in November 2025. The trio of Watkins, Davidson and Hall were all No. 1 overall recruits in their respective classes.
