Star graduate guard Chad Baker-Mazara is no longer a member of the USC men’s basketball team, the team announced Sunday.

A person familiar with the situation told the Los Angeles Times that Baker-Mazara left the team after an accumulation of issues, rather than an individual event. Further details on the situation are still unclear.

Baker-Mazara, who was in his last year of eligibility, had been the offensive standout for an injury-plagued Trojan lineup, leading USC with 18.6 points per game on a team-high 30 minutes per game. He was also averaging 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists. After significant injuries hit most of USC’s stars, including junior guard Rodney Rice, senior forward Amarion Dickerson and freshman guard Alijah Arenas, Baker-Mazara was tasked with doing it all as USC made a push for the NCAA Tournament.

The first-year Trojan guard left Saturday’s loss to Nebraska early in the second half with an apparent injury, though no update was provided by Head Coach Eric Musselman after the game.

“He said he couldn’t go,” Musselman said postgame.
