Despite facing the strongest winds of the week, No. 2 USC women’s golf conquered the Big Ten Championship this weekend, earning the lowest winning 54-hole score in the tournament’s history.

This win marked the Trojans’ first Big Ten Championship after joining the conference in 2024, with the entire team placing in the top 25.

Thanks to USC holding one of the strongest rosters in the nation — with all five starters ranked in the top 45 in the country — the team was able to defeat second-place Ohio State by 12 strokes.

Koo wins individual title

Sophomore Jasmine Koo secured the individual title, extending her program record of eight individual championships, and contributed to the team’s overall tournament win.

After a less-than-ideal start to the tournament, Koo’s struggles continued into the next day, bogeying two of the first three holes.

However, she quickly came out of her slump, hitting four birdies, including a huge 15-foot putt on the 17th hole to secure the individual title with a day three score of 2-under 68.

“[It] feels amazing, I’m over the moon right now,” Koo said in a postgame interview with USC Athletics regarding her victory. “It’s even better [that the whole team won]. We’re going back in our vans, and everyone is just so excited. It’s going to be a blast going back home.”

Koo said she was score-checking during the tournament, and even though it made her more nervous, it gave her the push to realize she could win it all.

“I could just [say], ‘Maybe one more birdie, I’ll get it in the bag.’ I was just like, ‘Okay, let’s do this,’” Koo said.

Koo said that USC has incredible talent, especially when you take it in the perspective of Division I collegiate golf.

Koo has now won the last three tournaments she has completed, and has four event wins overall this season.

USC secures first Big Ten Championship

Alongside Koo, junior Bailey Shoemaker, sophomore Elise Lee and senior Catherine Park placed in the top 10 of this tournament.

With their performances, Koo and Shoemaker were named to the Big Ten Women’s Golf All-Championships Team.

Shoemaker fired a 5-under 65, tying her collegiate career best, as well as the Oakmont Country Club tournament single-round record. In the end, she tied for second place with a 1-under 209.

On the other hand, Lee and Park struggled on the third day, but managed to make the top 10 each with an overall score of 4-over 214. They tied for ninth in the conference championship.

Sophomore Kylie Chong also had a decent showing in the tournament, but like her teammates, earned a spot in the top 25. Her score of 10-over 220 secured a top 25 placing for all Trojans and the overall win in the championship.

The Trojans will discover their regional placement during the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Selection Show on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Following their Big Ten Championship win, the Trojans seek to chase their next national championship since their last title in 2013.
