The historic football rivalry between USC and Notre Dame will be returning to the field in 2030, USC announced Monday morning.

The two schools announced in December that they would not play in 2026 after facing off nearly every year over the last century. The series’ future had come into question after Head Coach Lincoln Riley expressed concern over its impact on the Trojans’ College Football Playoff chances.

“USC’s historic rivalry with Notre Dame holds a special place in the history of college football, and we are happy to resume a series that means so much to the entire Trojan Family,” Athletic Director Jennifer Cohen said in the announcement. “We look forward to more memorable matchups and unforgettable games between the Trojans and the Irish.”

The rivalry is set to return with a four-game series, starting at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Trojans and Fighting Irish will face off in the first week of the 2030 and 2031 seasons, while official dates for the 2032 and 2033 seasons have yet to be announced.
