It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…Superman at L.A. Live?

If you thought you saw grown men dressed as Spider-man or Mr. Incredible down at L.A. Live on Saturday, don’t worry — the Hollywood Walk of Fame hasn’t moved Downtown.

But whereas you might see a dozen or so impersonators in Hollywood, L.A. Live welcomed 1,580 — yes, 1,580 — masked crusaders on Saturday as part of a promotional event for the upcoming DreamWorks film Megamind, which opens next month.

And if that sounds like a lot of superheroes, it was. The Guinness Book of World Records said the event was now considered the “largest number of costumed crusaders gathered in one place, at one time,” beating out the old record by 79 people, according to LAist.

Will Ferrell, who stars in the film, was presented with a certificate at the event, where he suggested that participants aim for another record by keeping their costumes on for the rest of the month.
