Guest conductor leads Thornton Winds in wide-ranging concert
The USC Thornton Winds were led in their concert Friday night by guest conductor Michael Haithcock, professor emeritus of music at the University of Michigan, and covered genres from classics like Mozart to modern ensemble music.
Haithcock is the conductor of the University of Michigan Symphony Band, where he is known for developing new approaches towards ensemble programming.
The ensemble played “La Création du monde” by Darius Milhaud, “AMEN!” by Carlos Simon, “Sinfonia” by Zhou Tian and Mozart’s “Divertimento in E-flat major, K. 166.”
