Provost Andrew Guzman announced Genevieve Giuliano as the interim dean of the Price School of Public Policy in an email to Price students Tuesday morning. The change comes as Dana Goldman, the current dean of Price, transitions to his new role as director of the Schaeffer Institute for Public Policy and Government Service and special advisor to the provost.

Goldman began his position at Price in 2020, initially serving as interim dean for one year. He is the founding director of the Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics, a center for interdisciplinary research.

In his new role, Goldman will “provide strategic leadership and fundraising oversight for the new Schaeffer Institute and initiatives developed over his tenure,” as well as “play a leading role in academic program development at the USC Capital Campus.”

An expert in transportation policy, Giuliano is a distinguished professor who formerly served as the director of METRANS transportation consortium, a partnership that organizes transport between USC and California State University, Long Beach.

Giuliano also previously served as a chair of the Executive Committee of the Transportation Research Board and “has served on several advisory boards, including the National Freight Advisory Committee.”

“I am grateful to Dr. Giuliano for her willingness to serve Price as its Interim Dean beginning this July, and to Dr. Goldman for the steady hand with which he has guided the school up until now,” Guzman wrote. “Both have a strong sense of dedication to the school and are committed to ensuring a smooth transition until a new dean is named.”
