The Fighting Irish win the Jeweled Shillelagh

For USC’s final home game of the 2024 football season, the Trojans found themselves facing a rival in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. While the Victory Bell was painted red last week, the question remained whether the Trojans could take home the Jeweled Shillelagh. With only one win against the Fighting Irish since 2017, there was a strong desire to bring the Gaelic war club home.

USC fought hard until the end, but pick-sixes on back-to-back drives put the nail in the coffin for the Trojans’ upset victory aspirations. The Fighting Irish will take Shillelagh home, hitting USC over the head with another loss.

Throughout the heartbreaking defeat, Daily Trojan Deputy Photo Editors Ethan Thai and Srikar Kolluru captured photos of the Trojans in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for one final time this year.
