Graduates attending commencement are required to reserve free tickets for themselves and up to 10 named guests, the University announced in a community-wide email Tuesday. Students can request more tickets through a request form beginning April 28.

“All requests for additional tickets will be reviewed, and we will do our best to accommodate these requests as space allows,” the email read. “Some school ceremonies may vary based on venue capacity.”

Commencement events taking place at Galen Center, Shrine Auditorium, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and on the USC Village Great Lawn will have their own specific tickets in addition to the “campus access ticket” students and attendees will receive, according to the email.

Main-stage commencement was not ticketed in 2023 and was not intended to be ticketed in 2024 before being canceled by the University, citing security issues. Class of 2024 graduates were later given up to six tickets to a Trojan Family Graduate Celebration at the Coliseum.

Main-stage commencement will be held at the Coliseum on May 15 with Jon M. Chu as commencement speaker. The ceremony was held at Alumni Park in 2023 and the University planned to hold it there in 2024 before it was canceled.

The University wrote in a Sept. 26 community-wide email that commencement had “outgrown” all campus venues and mentioned positive experiences hosting events at the Coliseum — including Fall 2024 Convocation and the Trojan Family Graduate Celebration — as reasons for the change .
