Allen to be recognized by Harold Pump Foundation

Former USC running back Marcus Allen will honored by the Harold Pump Foundation during the annual celebrity dinner on Aug. 3 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.

Allen is scheduled to be honored alongside boxer Oscar De La Hoya, Los Angeles Lakers legend Jerry West and Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn.

In 1981, Allen became the first college football player to rush for 2,000 yards in a season. That year, he became USC’s fourth Heisman Trophy winner.

Allen was drafted by the Los Angeles Raiders and made an immediate impact, becoming the NFL Rookie of the Year. He went on to earn the 1985 NFL MVP Award, and was named the MVP of Super Bowl XVIII. Allen is enshrined in both the College Football and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Harold Pump Foundation raises funds for the treatment of cancer. It honors Harold Pump, the father of basketball entrepreneurs Dana and David Pump, who lost his battle to cancer in 2000.
