Madonna’s new album slated for spring 2012 release
Madonna has been awfully busy lately. The Queen of Pop recently debuted her film “W.E.” at the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 1, severed ties with her label at Warner Bros. Records and tried her hand at opening a series of international fitness center chains.
And just last week, Madge shocked airwaves when she announced her new studio album will be ready for release in 2012.
The pop diva made the announcement about her 12th studio album via an interview with Swedish television company, Sveriges Television. In the interview, Madonna was promoting her new movie “W.E.,” but dropped the news about the album as well. She has since received a much greater response for the record than for the tepid reviews the film has been getting.
The album will follow-up 2008’s No. 1 hit, Hard Candy. Spawning singles like “4 Minutes” featuring Justin Timberlake and “Give It 2 Me,” Hard Candy proved a massive worldwide hit. Since everything Madonna touches seems to turn to gold, this record should be equally successful.
It is rumored Madonna will be working with producers from her Ray of Light album, such as William Orbit, and it is confirmed that the singer is already in the studio.
On July 4, her manager tweeted “1st day in the recording studio for the new album;” so fans should be expecting a lead single in February or March, with the full album due in the spring.
