Downtown Long Beach Cheese Week

Cheese is a food that people typically really love or really hate — but during Cheese Week in Long Beach, people from all over come together to indulge in and celebrate cheese, be it crumbly, melty or stinky. Restaurants will “pay homage to fromage” with special menus that they have created just for this event. The Congregation Ale House, for instance, currently offers fig and brie pastries and cheese platters just for this fabulously cheesy occasion. It’s a gouda week to embrace cheese!
Marcel Camargo

Blue Whale Bar
With strong influences from two different musical cultures, São Paulo-native Marcel Camargo quickly picked up the various styles of American music after moving to the states at 16 years of age. Now Camargo is rising in the modern jazz world as a remarkable guitarist, having toured with Michael Bublé and played with other renowned musicians. It won’t be long before Camargo reaches the same level of fame as jazz guitar greats Wes Montgomery and Pat Metheny.

Barnes and Noble at The Grove
Who says that February gets the monopoly on romance? Valentine’s Day may be weeks away, but things are about to get steamy at The Grove. American writer Nicholas Sparks will be signing his new book Safe Haven at Barnes and Noble to promote the movie adaptation of the same name, which is premiering next month. Wristbands to attend the free event will be available at Barnes and Noble starting at 9 a.m.
The L.A. Art Show 2013

The L.A. Convention Center
The L.A. Art Show has art for everyone — literally. Much like the cosmopolitan city it is hosted in, the event is a melting pot of genres, showcasing everything from modern and contemporary art to historical and traditional works. One exhibit of note is Letters from Los Angeles: Text in Southern California, which seeks to define Los Angeles through words and letters.
