USG passes wireless Internet resolution

USG passed a resolution Tuesday supporting the installation of wireless Internet in Leavey and Doheny libraries, citing the high volume of people using the facilities and the inadequacy of the current technology.

“[USC’s Committee on Information Services] chooses 8-10 buildings to completely overhaul of stuff,” Residential Senator Juan Orjuela said. “Doheny and Leavey weren’t on the list … so this resolution is showing the students’ support for them.”

The process of upgrading the libraries’ technology is already underway.

“The libraries have been very cooperative,” John Baldo, director of University Affairs, said. “They have gotten a lot of complaints [about wireless]. It’s a really good partnership.”
