USC to face Nebraska in Holiday Bowl

For the first time in the program’s history, the Trojan football team will head to San Diego to compete in the Holiday Bowl.

USC (8-4, 6-3 Pac-12) will face No. 25 Nebraska on Dec. 27 at 5 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium.

The Cornhuskers (9-3, 5-3 Big Ten), recently fired head coach Bo Pelini and hired former Oregon State head coach Mike Riley to fill his position. Nebraska assistant Barney Cotton will serve as the interim head coach for the game.

Nebraska got off to a 5-0 start this season, before falling to Michigan State in early October, . The Cornhuskers’ other losses came at the hands of Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Nebraska is led by running back Ameer Abdullah, who averages 126.9 rushing yards per game and has racked up 18 rushing touchdowns this season. Abdullah also boasts 208 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air.

USC head coach Steve Sarkisian has had success against Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl before, as he led his 2010 Washington team to a 19-7 win against the Cornhuskers there.
