Women’s golf in third place after two days of play
Junior Karen Chung and freshman Robynn Ree lead the women’s golf team after the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate on Monday in Palo Alto.
The Women of Troy shot for par in the second round and enter Tuesday’s final round of play at 9-over 577. They trail the leading Stanford by nine and second place UCLA by six.
Ree is tied for eighth place while junior Tiffany Chan is tied for 20th. Ree is shooting an even 142 while Chan is 3-over 145. Ree and Chan each had three birdies on the day to lead the Women of Troy to a third place finish.
Senior Kyung Kim is tied for 26th at 5-over 147 while Chung moved up to a tie for 39th at 6-over 148. Kim and Chung followed suit and each shot three birdies as well to notch their 26th and 39th place finishes, respectively.
The Women of Troy have moved up since the first round of play, when they were six back of Stanford, shooting a combined 9-over 293. UCLA and Washington were tied for second and Georgia held on to fourth place.
The Women of Troy have a 9 a.m. tee time on Tuesday to conclude their play in Palo Alto.
