Report: Steve Sarkisian could join Lane Kiffin in Alabama as offensive assistant

Apparently, Alabama has become a haven for former USC head coaches. Just two years after hiring Lane Kiffin as his offensive coordinator, Nick Saban is now showing interest in Steve Sarkisian as an offensive assistant, according to a Fox Sports report on Saturday.

Sarkisian reportedly has an interview with Alabama this week.

Both Kiffin and Sarkisian were fired by USC under controversial circumstances. During the 2013 campaign, Kiffin was notified of his removal at Los Angeles International Airport after allowing 62 points on the road to Arizona State. Sarkisian was terminated midway through last season, in the midst of a series of alcohol-fueled incidents.

Neither split was particularly amicable. Sarkisian filed a $30 million wrongful termination suit against USC last fall, citing discriminatory behavior relating to his alcoholism. Meanwhile, late Saturday night, Kiffin took a shot at the Trojans with a tweet from LAX that included the hashtag, #3:14, or the exact hour he was fired at the airport in 2013.

Sarkisian would be reunited with Kiffin; the pair shared offensive coordinator duties at USC under Pete Carroll. Sarkisian had been slated to work for Fox Sports as an analyst.
