USC jumps two spots in BCS rankings
USC is ranked No. 5 in the BCS standings, two positions higher than a week ago.
After the Trojans 42-36 win over Oregon State on Saturday, they moved past Cincinnati and Boise State in the standings, although neither team lost. Cincinnati defeated Louisville 41-10 and Boise State dismantled Hawaii 54-9.
USC (6-1) is the highest ranked one-loss team, ahead of undefeated TCU, Boise State and Cincinnati.
Florida and Alabama remain atop the standings despite less-than-impressive victories this weekend. Texas is No. 3, followed by No. 4 Iowa, who narrowly escaped an upset by Michigan State, 13-9.
Five teams on USC’s schedule are ranked in this week’s BCS top 25. Oregon, who the Trojans face next, moved up to No. 10, while Arizona, who USC plays on Dec. 5, jumped to No. 20.
Notre Dame and Cal, previously unranked, worked their way into the rankings at No. 23 and No. 24, respectively. Ohio State also moved up two spots to No. 17.
