Pac-10 teams find place in rankings

With two weeks in the books of the college football season, the depth of the Pac-10 is apparent.

Considering both the AP and USA Today polls, there are six Pac-10 teams can be found in the rankings.

USC (2-0) dropped two spots to No. 18 in the AP poll — the only poll the Trojans are eligible forbecause of the NCAA sanctions — after the narrow 17-14 win over Virginia Saturday.

Following two dominant offensive performances — including a 48-13 victory at Tennessee on Saturday — the Oregon Ducks (2-0) are the highest-ranked team in the conference, coming in at No. 5 in the AP and No. 6 in the USA Today rankings.

No. 19 Stanford (2-0, 1-0) — opening conference play with a 35-0 route of UCLA (0-2, 0-1) — No. 24 Arizona (2-0) and No. 25 Oregon State (0-1) are all ranked in the AP poll.

Arizona, Stanford and Cal (2-0) are positioned at No. 18, No. 19, and No. 24 respectively in the USA Today poll.

Utah (2-0, 1-0) — who will join the Pac-10 in 2011 — is ranked No. 14 in both polls.

This weekend the conference teams will be play several highly regarded opponents with match-ups like No. 9 Iowa (2-0) at Arizona, Arizona State at No. 11 Wisconsin (2-0) and No. 8 Nebraska (2-0) at Washington (1-1). With this tough slate, these Pac-10 teams have good opportunities to solidify their rankings before conference play swings into full gear.
