Freshmen Boysen and Davie wins USC Credit Union POW Honors

The month of September is typically a time of adjustment for USC freshmen around campus.

For Haley Boysen, freshman midfielder for the women’s soccer team, and Jeremy Davies, freshman 2- meter player for the back-to-back NCAA champion men’s water polo team, this past weekend signified quite the opposite. Two of the Trojan family’s newest members put on a good old fashioned coming out party.

Boysen led USC women’s soccer to two victories in the Trojan Invitational over No.23 Auburn and NAU. On Friday night, she notched the match’s only goal in overtime to lead the team to a thrilling victory against the Tigers. And just two days later, she effortlessly took on the role of playmaker as she set up the Trojans first and third goals in a victory against the Lumberjacks.

But the spotlight Boysen thrived in the past few days was by no means a single act. Fellow-freshman Davie helped the Trojans win triumphantly against No.10 Long Beach State (16-4) and No.8 LMU (10-5). In both matchups, Davie led the team in goals, looking at ease en route to two hat tricks.

For Boysen’s and Davie’s efforts, the USC Credit Union named both as the Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 6-12.
