Student comedy group brings the laughs

For those that still don’t know what USoC stands for (and, no, it’s not simply USC with an extra letter in it), get ready to laugh.

Founded just last year, the Uncensored Students of Comedy group is gaining momentum as well as a growing community of supporters at USC.

Last night at Ground Zero, the student-run stand-up comedy group gathered for another night of jokes, smiles and outright goofiness. Junior Emin Vartanians opened for and hosted the event. The line-up included Natalie Semotiuk, Kyle Mizono, founder Jennifer Rendel, Chris Connelly and Allison Raskin.

Some of the biggest laughs from the audience came during Connelly’s set with his powerful one-liners. Mizono’s hilariously deadpan persona and Raskin’s slightly spastic demeanor also evoked several laughs.

USoC’s shows are usually held in Taper Hall, and its online schedule can be found on its Facebook page. The next show takes place Nov. 18.

Though the group is still fairly new to campus, its goals are clear: to make students laugh. And that’s exactly what it did.
