Matthew Morrison sings about rooftop sex

First, he’s kissing Gwyneth Paltrow and attempting to inform students about the risk of STDs on this past Tuesday’s episode of Glee. Now 32-year-old Matthew Morrison is crooning about sex under the stars on his first solo album.

Stepping outside of his usual character as Mr. Schuester on Glee, Morrison is scheduled to release his debut album in May. Along with originals, there will be a couple cover songs gracing the track list.

To promote his first single, “Summer Rain,” and upcoming tour, a behind the scenes tour rehearsal video of the song was released online.

Starting off with a typical laid back drum and ukulele groove, the song has a vibe similar to anything Jason Mraz has recorded and far from anything on Broadway.

The lyrics of the song definitely didn’t hide behind any metaphors or illusions. Morrison sings Who needs lovers’ lane? / Right up on this rooftop / let’s make love in the summer rain, in the chorus.

Either from being somewhat racy or too corny, the lines Your eyes are beggin’ me to touch you there / Could be a thousand people watchin’ but we don’t care might make a few listeners squirm in their seats.

“Summer Rain” is now available on iTunes and Amazon.
