Trojans finish off season on high note

With the Trojans’ success this year, due in part to their solid core of players who played important roles for the team, four Trojans finished ranked in the top 50 on the ITA singles list.

Freshman Ray Sarmiento ranked at No. 38 in the nation in singles and No. 32 in doubles with junior Steve Johnson. Junior Daniel Nguyen ranked at No. 40, and senior Jaak Poldma finished as No. 41 in the nation for singles and No. 17 in doubles with sophomore J.T. Sundling.

The rankings are the highest of Poldma’s career at USC.

Along with Johnson’s No. 1 ranking, he was named ITA National Player of the Year and Pac-10 Player of the Year. Johnson and Sarmiento were also crowned ITA All-Americans.
