Ticketing at excessive level
Enough, that was the only word I could think of when I saw LAPD police officers last week ticketing students for biking violations.
This is at least the third time this year I have seen dozens of bikers ticketed at the corner of Jefferson Boulevard and McClintock Avenue.
How does punishing students hurrying to and from class do anything to make us safer or reduce violent crime and robberies?
The number of times these incidents have occurred and the sheer volume of tickets being handed out shows that this policy is not intended to teach lessons about bike safety and is instead a revenue raiser for the city.
Students should not be taken advantage of to help bail out a city government that is in financial trouble because of its own irresponsible budgeting decisions.
