A centennial celebration (and other DT announcements)

I’ll address the small stuff first. The Daily Trojan’s print production staff will be observing a brief hiatus because of the football Weekender.

As is tradition, there will be no Monday paper, but check newsstands Tuesday for a full recap of Saturday’s game against Stanford, a 21-14 upset, and the latest in campus news. If you want a preview, you can read what USC coach Lane Kiffin said at the post-game press conference in Palo Alto, or you can check out our photo story.

Now, for the other big news: Today marks the Daily Trojan’s centennial. The Daily Trojan printed its first article on Sept. 16, 1912, as The Daily Southern Californian and has been publishing ever since. This week and throughout the course of the 2012-13 academic year, the Daily Trojan will be celebrating 100 years of award-winning journalism.

How? You’ll see. I don’t want to spoil any surprises, so readers be on the look-out: A special supplement is coming to a newsstand (and website) near you!

Stay tuned to our social media pages for updates (Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook).
