Six DIY milkshakes to try making on your study break


Sometimes, there’s nothing you want more than a frothy, creamy milkshake. It’s a filling dessert that satisfies your sweet tooth, but it’s also one you can make in your own kitchen. Next time you get a milkshake craving, don’t head over to a local diner or ice cream shop. Instead, whip out your blender and and make the treat at home  it’s an easier, cheaper option, something that all college students appreciate. Milkshakes are easy to make, and the end product looks deceivingly impressive. Below are six simple and incredibly tasty milkshake recipes.

1. Classic Vanilla Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • ¾ cup cold milk
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Directions: Blend milk, vanilla extract, sugar and vanilla ice cream until smooth and creamy. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

2. Oreo Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • ¼ cup skim milk
  • 2 Oreo cookies, divided
  • Cool Whip

Directions: Combine ice cream, skim milk and cookies in blender. Blend until smooth. Top with cool whip (as desired) and start sipping!

3. Peanut Butter Cup Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups chocolate ice cream
  • ⅓ cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • ¼ cup mini Reese’s peanut butter cups
  • 4 Reese’s butter cup oreos

Directions: Place ice cream, milk and peanut butter into blender. Blend on medium-high speed until combined. Add Reese’s mini peanut butter cups and Reese’s peanut butter cup oreos. Pulse until cups and oreos are fully incorporated. Pour into glass and enjoy!

4. Salted Caramel Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons salted caramel syrup
  • 4 Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Caramel Squares
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate sprinkles

Directions: Place ice cream, milk, caramel syrup and chocolate squares in blender. Blend on medium-high speed until smooth. Pour into glass and top with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.

5. Birthday Cake Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1/3 cup yellow cake mix (feel free to substitute for another flavor)
  • 2/3 cups milk
  • sprinkles, for decoration (optional)

Directions: Place ice cream, cake mix and milk in blender. Blend together until mixture is creamy and smooth. Serve with rainbow sprinkles on top. Enjoy!

6. Strawberry Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup vanilla ice cream
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 7 strawberries, sliced
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • whipped cream

Directions: In the container of a blender, combine the milk, strawberries, ice cream and sugar. Blend until smooth, about 10 seconds. Pour into a glass, top with whipped cream and drink!
