Baker-Mazara releases statement regarding dismissal

The former Trojan guard spoke publicly for the first time since March 1.

Former USC men’s basketball player Chad Baker-Mazara released a statement Monday night, regarding his dismissal from the team on March 1, according to Ryan Kartje of the Los Angeles Times.

Baker-Mazara said in the statement, “false and misleading narratives regarding his character and age have circulated publicly.” He additionally stated that he “unequivocally denies these claims.”

According to a story from the L.A. Times in early March, Baker-Mazara’s dismissal rose from multiple incidents throughout the year. After the 2025-26 season, the 26-year-old is out of college eligibility but plans on playing with the Gigantes de Carolina in Puerto Rico this April.
