After junior center Gabe Dynes announced he would enter the transfer portal Friday, USC men’s basketball quickly found a replacement: former UConn freshman center Eric Reibe, who officially committed to the Trojans on Monday. Reibe joins junior guard KJ Lewis as one of two transfer additions so far for the 2026-27 USC squad.

Lewis and Reibe — along with five-star recruit Christian Collins, who officially signed with the Trojans on Sunday, and four-star twins Darius and Adonis Ratliff — are the newest additions to Head Coach Eric Musselman’s squad and will look to play fairly significant roles with the team next season.

Reibe, who helped the Huskies reach the National Championship game in his freshman year, averaged 5.9 points per game on an efficient 65.8% shooting from the field. He also grabbed 3.3 rebounds and blocked 0.7 shots per game. The 7-foot-1 center started five games out of 40 he played in, averaging 13.8 minutes per game.

All of Reibe’s starts came when senior center Tarris Reed Jr. was out with an ankle injury in late November and December. For the rest of the season, Reibe came off the bench and even saw action in the NCAA Tournament, scoring 6 points and grabbing three rebounds.

Ranked as the 10th-best center in the transfer portal by 247Sports, Reibe will look to start at center, even with the talented Ratliff twins. Reibe’s dominance in the paint and on the glass was likely a drawing factor for USC to sign him.

After struggling to get consistent production all season from Dynes, Musselman switched senior forward Ezra Ausar to the five, pushing Dynes to the bench. Having a player like Reibe will help fill the void at the center position that was lacking all of last year.

With the transfer portal officially closing Tuesday night, players can no longer enter, but those already in the portal can still commit to new schools. This means that star freshman guard Alijah Arenas, who was widely speculated to leave the Trojans, will either stay at USC or enter the NBA Draft; if he chooses the latter, he must do so by Friday at 11:59 p.m.

Also on Tuesday, the team announced on social media that sophomore forward Jacob Cofie will return to USC for his junior season. In his first year donning the cardinal and gold, Cofie was one of two Trojans to start all 32 games, averaged 9.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and was among the squad’s best defensive players, averaging 0.9 steals and a team-high 1.8 blocks.

On top of their strong incoming transfer class, the Trojans have the No. 3 high school recruiting class in the country, according to On3, marking their highest ranking in program history.

Despite losing some key pieces of last season’s squad to the transfer portal, including Jordan Marsh, Jerry Easter II, Amarion Dickerson and Dynes, Musselman has capitalized quickly and once again shown why he is regarded as one of the best recruiters in the sport.
