Street closures announced for Obama visit


In preparation for President Barack Obama’s visit to the USC campus, the Los Angeles Police Department has released the names of the streets that will be closed on Friday.

USC expects to host 30,000 visitors during Obama’s rally for senatorial candidate Sen. Barbara Boxer.

The last time Obama visited in August, traffic was snared in South Los Angeles for more than four hours.

Martin Luther King Boulevard, between Figueroa Street and Vermont Avenue, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 9:30 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Vermont Avenue between Martin Luther King Boulevard and Exposition Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic from 9:30 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Figueroa Street between Martin Luther King Boulevard and 39th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between 9:30 a.m. and 2:50 p.m.

Exposition Boulevard between Vermont Avenue and Figueroa Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between 11:25 a.m. and 2:50 p.m.

Pedestrian traffic will be allowed on those streets during certain times. For more information, visit the LAPD website.
