Politics at USC
If you were to ask a college-educated person about politically active campuses in the United States, the University of Southern California might not be the first school that comes to mind. In recent years, however, USC has become a student body that is not only aware of social and political issues, but actively engaging and making an impact in their surrounding communities.
Whether it’s in the immediate vicinity of Los Angeles, or even in showing solidarity to protesters on the other side of the Pacific Rim, USC has a sprawling diversity of interests, and students all over campus are leading the charge in making their surrounding communities a better place. When Yasmeen Serhan and I envisioned this supplement, we wanted to capture a snapshot of the rapid growth USC is undergoing with regard to its political activity and the extent of student involvement. Though we couldn’t include every issue, we hope to capture a glimpse of how our fellow Trojans are making a genuine impact on the world around them.
