Best songs to belt out on your Weekender road trip

Two words: The. Weekender. Who’s ready? I know I’m ready to see our football team sock it to Cal this weekend, and I’m sure after that marvelous blowout win against Utah, everyone else is too. Whether it’s your first time going or your last, make sure you make some great memories and see why everyone praises the Weekender so much.

Something that’s often overlooked is the road trip portion of the Weekender. Anyone who has had a bad drive knows it can make or break the entire trip. There are a few simple ways to ensure that your road trip never takes a bad turn (see what I did there?). The easiest way is to not ride with a bunch of buzz-kills who “didn’t get a lot of sleep the night before,” so they’re just going to “nap most of the way there” so they “have energy for the game.” Just as important, however, is having a great playlist to listen to on the way to and from the game.

For this particular road trip, it’s important to get pumped going to the game. You should still be excited on the way back, but not too excited. Keeping the energy up is key, but if you still have enough energy to go balls-to-the-wall on the way back, you did the Weekender wrong.

I threw in some songs that will hopefully make your heart race just a little bit faster to build anticipation for the game. There are also some songs that are good to throw on during a road trip in general, and some classic sing-alongs and throwbacks that even the buzz-kills will participate in.

Remember, The Weekender only comes once a year, so you should make every moment as special as possible, especially jamming out to songs with your friends during what will hopefully be one of the greatest car rides of your life.
