Radisson death ruled a suicide

According to the USC Department of Public Safety, Tuesday’s death at the Radisson has been ruled a suicide.

The deceased has been identified as a 39-year-old white male, DPS Capt. David Carlisle said, but LAPD has not released the victim’s name, awaiting notification of next of kin.

The man fell from the seventh floor of the hotel and landed by the Radisson’s outdoor pool, Carlisle said.

Though the incident does not appear to have a connection to USC, Carlisle said authorities are still investigating to be sure.

The area by the Radisson pool was designated as a crime scene Tuesday, but the pool was open for use again today.

According to Mike Juliani, a freshman who lives in the Radisson, LAPD was investigating at the scene past midnight Wednesday morning and DPS officers were stationed at the end of student-occupied hallways to make sure students didn’t interfere with the investigation.

Sarah Benzel, another freshman resident of the Radisson, said that the caution tape was removed from the crime scene Wednesday morning.
