This was a good piece, but there was the incident of former VP Mondale getting booed at a rally on campus. Sure he wasn’t the Pres, but that scared Dems away for many years. When I was on the 2000 Dems campaign, they said no rallys at USC due to that incident. After the election, however, Lieberman spoke to a packed Bovard and that seems to have restored faith in our student body. The student body of the mid-80s was a lot more conservative than that of the 21st century.
